She holds a master’s degree in school administration and is certified as both a teacher and a school principal in North Carolina. She received her Ph.D.in Curriculum and Teaching from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Are you wondering about rigor? For many, it is a negative term that means “harder” or “double the work”. Barbara’s internationally recognized, practical, teacher-friendly concept of instructional rigor includes high expectations, scaffolding for instruction, and demonstration of learning.
During this workshop Dr. Blackburn not only clearly defines rigor, but also provides numerous examples of instructional strategies to raise the level of rigor and can be immediately implemented in classrooms across multiple content areas and grade levels. Join us for a day of learning and leave with an action plan for how to initiate and support the changes that will increase rigor in your school!
