Dr. Jane Kise is respected throughout the world as a thought leader and is the author or co-author of over 25 books on personality, education, and leadership.  Jane’s primary passion is working with schools, promoting the goal of creating places where every adult and child feels welcomed, capable, and engaged by the lifelong task of learning.

Are you avoiding “learning styles” because of the research that teaching to them doesn’t improve student outcomes? Yet you know that students have different learning needs because of interests, past experiences, culture, gender and more.  Welcome to a different, brain-based framework for ensuring no students are constantly at a disadvantage, while at the same time providing a common language for peer coaching.  The 12 core doable differentiation strategies enable educators to adjust the way they would prefer to teach content to ensure all students are successful, thriving, engaged, agile, and maturing.

This is a learn-by-doing session. Through professional development activities, participants experience strategies teachers can use immediately. All students need to master core content and processes, develop agility with hands-on tasks such as science labs, working independently and creatively, and collaborative problem-solving. Students need scaffolding to successfully engage in all of these content-driven learning modes, no matter their hard-wired strengths. Incorporating the 12 strategies and providing the scaffolding is the essence of doable differentiation.

Participants will:

  • Identify their own core cognitive process and how it influences their approach to education
  • Experience differentiation strategies that engage and scaffold students to develop agility and success via all four cognitive processes
  • Explore how to use a simple tow-step differentiation process to quickly and easily reach more students as well as to plan full lessons
