“Making PERA Meaningful: Using Student Growth in Teacher Evaluation”

MPC and DuPage ROE C0-Sponsored Event
Administrators’ Academy #1552—7 Step PERA Joint Committee Guidelines
ILSP Standards 2, 5, 6 Framework for Teaching Domains 1, 3
September 30, 2015
PERA implementation is on the horizon. Including student data into teacher evaluations is a daunting task, but can be an amazing opportunity for school districts to capitalize on growth as an organization.
As teachers we want the learning targets for students to be as clear as possible. It helps the learner prioritize tasks, identify areas where support would be needed and ultimately strengthens access to learning. As a learning organization don’t we want the same thing for our teachers?
This session will demonstrate how a district/school can create new conversations around teaching and learning to integrate the use of student growth data and make the PERA changes as smooth as possible.
This workshop is best suited for district teams or joint committees being in attendance together to discuss their unique points on the PERA implementation continuum. Student growth monitoring, the assessment data that informs that monitoring, developing those assessments, and having quality conversations around those assessments is an enormous amount of work. This session is ideally suited for Joint Committee members and school teams to learn about the current/future requirements and start framing steps to success.
Outcomes:
Participants will gain a better understanding of the shifts from old AYP reporting to the new growth
model of measuring student and school performance.
Participants will gain a better understanding of the joint committee work from Day 1 through Day 180.
Participants will identify areas of future growth needed to become more data literate at the local level.
